BUPi (Balcão Único do Prédio) is a platform aimed at owners of rustic and mixed properties, which makes it possible to map, understand and value Portuguese territory, simply and free of charge. It began in 2017 as a pilot project in 10 municipalities. Following its success, it is now being expanded throughout the country.

How BUPi was born

BUPi came about in the pilot phase with the aim of getting to know the Portuguese territory in a simple and innovative way and is based on 4 objectives:
  • Spatial Planning
  • Resource Valorization
  • Identification of Owners
  • Fire Prevention

Who can join BUPi?

Property owners located in municipalities that are members of BUPi can join free of charge. Property location can be carried out by the interested party, online, or at a BUPi branch, in person, with a qualified technician. If you locate and identify the boundaries of your property online, the process will be forwarded to a technician, who will check that the information is correct.

Why should you register?
  • To guarantee your property rights. Registering land with the tax office is not enough to guarantee the protection of your property rights. To do this, you need to register with the Land Registry, which will be free of charge if you present the location of your property, obtained through BUPi.
  • Because registering the BUPi with the Conservatory is compulsory when you want to buy or sell land.
  • To help manage Portugal's rural territory, contributing to the prevention of fires in our country.
  • Because you can do this for free if you present the georeferenced graphic representation obtained through BUPi, for a period of 4 years from the date the municipality joins BUPi.
