Yesterday morning saw the 2nd edition of “A Corrida Mais Bonita de Portugal” (The Most Beautiful Race in Portugal), one of the most important sporting events on the national calendar, which this year exceeded all expectations by bringing together more than 4,000 entries for both the run and the walk.
The 10-kilometer route, which began shortly after 9.30 a.m. at Quiaios Beach and ended at Avenida 25 de Abril, next to the Clock Tower, had a course that put the participants´ endurance, strength, speed and pace to the test.
The “Enforca Cães” Atlantic panoramic road offers “breathtaking landscapes”. The Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Serra da Boa Viagem on the other.
This year´s Most Beautiful Race in Portugal was sponsored by Carlos Lopes - the first Portuguese Olympic champion - who was present at the start line, along with the Mayor of Figueira da Foz, Pedro Santana Lopes, and the Councillor for Sport, Manuel Domingues, as well as the mayors of Buarcos and São Julião and Quiaios, Rosa Batista and Ricardo Santos.
