SAINT JULIAN'S PARISH CHURCH.

The original church was the oldest temple in Figueira da Foz, built or rebuilt by Abbot Pedro in 1080, and was at the origin of the city, which evolved from the cluster of houses that were built around the original church, in a place then called S. Julião da Foz do Mondego. Nothing remains of its original foundation, and the current church is a 18th-century reconstruction, with several subsequent alterations. Inside, the spacious single-nave church features a side chapel with a beautiful stone altarpiece from the second half of the 16th century, originally from the Convent of Seiça.
