Until August 6, the maximum air temperature in most of the mainland will reach values of around 40°C. Until the 4th, the most critical period, in several locations in Alentejo, the Douro and Tagus river valleys, and Beira Baixa, the maximum temperature could reach 45°C and, in some places, exceed this value.

Minimum temperatures will also be very high, reaching values close to 25°C in most of the territory, approaching 30°C in some locations in the interior of the Center and South, especially in Alto Alentejo.

This weather situation is comparable to the weather situation in August 2003 in mainland Portugal. During the 2003 heatwave, very high minimum and maximum temperatures were also recorded, with a new absolute maximum temperature of 47.3°C in Amareleja on August 1.

From Sunday, the 5th, the temperature is expected to drop in coastal regions and, in the following days, in the rest of the country, but will remain around 30-35°C in many places at the end of next week.

In this situation, dust from North Africa will gradually affect the entire territory from south to north, resulting in a yellowish hue in the sky.
In Figueira da Foz, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere, temperatures between 66°F and 97°F are expected for today. For tomorrow, Saturday, the forecast is for 66°F to 97°F, with a drop in the following days.
