Figueira da Foz City Council, in collaboration with various local organizations, will be marking International Youth Day, which this year has the theme “Youth Actions for the Sustainable Development Goals and Beyond”, highlighting the importance of empowering young people to implement, at a local level, actions in line with the SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals, thus contributing to fairer, more resilient and sustainable communities.

So, on Tuesday, August 12, young people aged between 12 and 25 will be offered a range of fun, recreational and sporting activities, including bodyboarding, surfing, tree climbing, horse riding, canoeing, sailing, table tennis, plastic arts, fitness activities and orienteering games.

Young people will also have free access to the outdoor municipal swimming pools in Alhadas, Borda do Campo Residents' Council, Ferreira-a-Nova, Moinhos da Gândara, Maiorca, Marinha das Ondas, Quiaios beach, as well as, by appointment, the Santos Rocha Municipal Museum and Municipal Museum Centers.

Participation is free, but registration is required from July 29 to August 5, 2025, online at https://forms.gle/qDvRSEkcJpGaAa9p8 or in person at the Ponto Já store in Paço de Tavarede. Places are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

August 12 was declared International Youth Day in 1999, following a recommendation from the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth, which took place in Portugal in 1998.
