Maintenance work on the Port of Figueira da Foz railway branch began on August 4. This work, which is expected to last 90 days and involve a total investment of 90,268.85 euros, has the general aim of repairing and upgrading the railway tracks and switches and crossings (AMV).
The contract, which covers 7.1 kilometers of track, will be carried out in a single phase and essentially consists of work on the AMVs, cleaning, clearing the tracks, signalling accessories and correcting the warping of the tracks in the existing railroad infrastructure. The work is being carried out by Socicarril - Sociedade de Construções Ferroviárias, Lda., a company specializing in railway work in the areas of maintenance, construction and renovation of railways.
The Port of Figueira da Foz Administration is funding the work “with the aim of preserving the operational and safety conditions of this infrastructure, as well as reinforcing the commitment to affirm the Port of Figueira da Foz as an important intermodal platform in the Central region, in line with the Ports 5+ Strategy”.
