Houses for rent or houses to rent?
When we say rent, we are referring to something that can be transported, i.e. when we are talking about movable things, such as renting a motorcycle, a car or a suit.
For its part, the term rent is used when we are talking about immovable things, i.e. things that we can't move, such as a house or apartment, for which the tenant pays a rent, almost always monthly, to the landlord - the owner of the property. That's why it's correct to say house to rent or rented house and not house to rent or rented house.
This definition is also explained in Article 1023 of the Civil Code: “A lease is called a lease when it concerns immovable property, a rental when it concerns movable property.”
Therefore, instead of saying that we are looking for properties to rent, we should say properties to rent, because we are also saying that we are paying rent.
