Sotto Maior Palace

Commissioned by businessman Joaquim Sotto Maior in 1900, the Sotto Maior Palace is one of the most beautiful examples of civil architecture in the city of Figueira da Foz, inspired by French Fine Arts, rich in interior design and with a unique art collection.

The tour takes visitors back to the 1920s, when they would be entertained in the halls of the Sotto Maior family, filled with paintings by major artists such as Joaquim Lopes, Dordio Gomes, and António Ramalho. Visitors then enter the private areas, viewing the bedrooms, a curious early 20th-century bathroom, and the reserved service areas.

The eight daily tours take place from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., always on time, and cost €3 per person. Admission is free for children under 12.
Program in Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English.

Figueirense Coliseum

Until August 30, Companhia do Coliseu Figueirense is promoting a program of guided tours of the Coliseu, covering everything from the public areas—stands, boxes, and corridors—to the reserved areas—arena, pens, and stables—and integrating specific knowledge of bullfighting in its symbolic and historical dimensions.

Essential for understanding the growth of tourism in the city of Figueira da Foz and the urbanization of the Bairro Novo neighborhood, the Coliseu Figueirense was created specifically as a bullring, but its imposing structure allowed it to establish itself as the largest outdoor performance venue in the central region, with a capacity for 6,000 people.

Guided tours, lasting 60 minutes, take place from Tuesday to Friday, starting at 3:30 p.m. Tickets cost €2 per person, are free for children under 12, and can be purchased on site.
Program in Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English.
