“Give Yourself a Break” is a project that is the result of a partnership between Figueira da Foz City Council, Casino Figueira and some of the city´s hotels (Bacharéis, Costa de Prata, Dona Maria, Eurostars, Exe Wellington, Malibu Foz, Sweet, Universal and Vila Galé). Its aim is to promote Figueira da Foz as a strategic destination for group tourism, corporate events and cruise ship stopovers, creating opportunities for links between the municipality and leading companies in the national tourism sector.
Last weekend, as part of the project, the city welcomed half a hundred decision-makers from the 25 largest national companies in the tourism sector, namely: tour operators, travel agencies, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) event organizers, cruise companies, tourism promotion platforms and event logistics.
The program of activities, the result of networking, included visits to the area, individual meetings and informal moments of contact between the participants.
These moments made it possible to identify the profile and specific needs of each company, assess the potential for integrating Figueira da Foz into their commercial strategies, present the city´s logistical, infrastructural and cultural solutions for hosting events and organized groups, which are seen as spontaneous opportunities for future collaboration and allow for a better understanding of Figueira da Foz´s distinctive tourism offer.
The event exceeded initial expectations because, by providing direct, strategic and constructive contacts with decision-makers in the national tourism sector, it enabled synergies to be established that benefit both parties - the destination and the operators.
It helped to strengthen the Figueira da Foz brand and consolidate the image of the municipality as a competitive, versatile and attractive destination, able not only to host initiatives in the national panorama of group business and leisure tourism, but also new types of tourism and events.
