Portuguese people should start looking at the real estate market as an alternative for investing their savings.
 

Five reasons to invest in real estate:
  1. Inflation rate: so that investors do not lose purchasing power in the long term, their investments must offer returns that exceed inflation. In this case, real estate assets benefit from this indicator, as owners reflect these movements in the price of real estate assets;
  2. Historically low interest rates: deposits are the financial product most used by those who wish to save for the future, however, the returns they offer are very low or even zero. Interest rates have reached historic lows;
  3. Rising house prices: the prospects for profitability in real estate investments are further reinforced by the rise in the House Price Index in the Eurozone and the European Union, which suggests that the real estate market will continue to appreciate, not only in terms of property purchases but also in terms of rentals. According to INE – National Statistics Institute, housing prices rose 12.2% in the first quarter of 2018, the largest increase in the last eight years.
  4. Higher returns: the real estate sector continues to offer more attractive returns compared to other financial instruments. In addition, if the investment is made through crowdfunding platforms, it also carries less risk for the investor, as the minimum amounts to be invested are low, and there is greater flexibility in the ownership of the loans.
  5. They are real and tangible assets: real estate is a real and tangible asset. Unlike investments such as stocks, which can unexpectedly lose all their value, real estate will always have intrinsic value, since the investment is associated with a physical asset. In other words, if the investment does not go as expected, investors can always count on the value of the property.
