The 3rd edition of the “Journey through Climate” (https://www.viagempeloclima.pt/) kicked off last Friday, July 11, at the Santa Maria do Mar Monastery in Carcavelos, and will pass through six partner municipalities until July 22. Figueira da Foz will be one of those municipalities, hosting the “Air Team” on July 19.
The initiative, promoted by Get2C in partnership with Cascais City Council, aims to raise awareness about climate change and the challenges faced by communities in adapting to a more sustainable future.
During the trip, the “Air”, ‘Earth’ and “Water” teams will promote activities that will allow the population to reflect on the impact of their choices on the climate and on community life, facing various challenges in each municipality.
The team that wins this competition will have the opportunity to travel to Brazil in November 2025 and take part in COP 30, the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
The teams are scheduled to arrive in Braga on July 22, 2025, marking the end of a journey that aims to reinforce the urgency of climate action and involve citizens, companies and municipalities.
The challenge in Figueira da Foz
On July 19, Figueira da Foz will host the Air Team for a clean-up event at Cova da Gala Beach, in conjunction with the Foz do Mondego Bodyboard Association.
The other bank of the River Mondego, in Figueira da Foz´s Municipal Garden, will also be the meeting point for this team, where they will discuss the importance of the circular economy and the various lives that waste can have.
