ENGINEER SILVA MUNICIPAL MARKET

Opened on June 24, 1892, St. John's Day. It covers an area of approximately 4,800 m², with a large central courtyard covered by an iron structure built using the most modern techniques of the time.

It is part of the widespread trend of “iron architecture” that swept across the country and internationally during the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century. Despite successive improvements, it still retains its original design. The colorful fruit and vegetable stalls, the echo of the fishmongers' cries, and the artisanal trade are testimony to the economic wealth of the region.

Classified as a Property of Municipal Interest.
