From now on, any citizen can easily and free of charge consult the location of buildings in the national territory, thanks to the new Public Viewer launched by eBUPi — the Mission Structure for the Expansion of the Simplified Cadastral Information System.

The tool, already available on the Single Building Counter (BUPi) website, provides access to detailed geographical information on buildings identified in the system, whether they are Georeferenced Graphic Representations (RGG) or elements contained in the Cadastral Map, managed by the Directorate-General for Territory and the Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning of Madeira.

This is a significant step in democratizing access to cadastral information, allowing citizens to view the boundaries and shape of their land even before formally identifying it in the BUPi.

“The availability of the Public Viewer is a turning point in terms of transparency and access to geographic information,” said Blandina Soares, coordinator of eBUPi, emphasizing the importance of interinstitutional collaboration in this advance.

Until now, access to the maps was limited to the BUPi platform and, more recently, to the BUPi 2.0 mobile app, but only for property identification purposes. With this new feature, the data is now openly accessible to citizens, businesses, and public entities, contributing to greater knowledge and appreciation of the territory.

Access can be gained through the “About” section of the official BUPi website, under the “View Properties” option.
