The “DIGA FIGUEIRA - Portal de Ocorrências” mobile application was launched a year ago (June 13, 2024) and according to the Figueirense municipality, “the analysis data already collected guarantees that the responses to the numerous and different occurrences have been swift and effective”, and “the application is establishing itself as a crucial tool for direct communication between citizens and the City Council services, promoting active citizenship and efficient and agile management of reported needs”.

During the 12 months of use, it was installed on 679 ANDROID devices and 502 IOS devices (with installation carried out and active in the last 30 days, i.e. who accessed the APP during these last 30 days / consulted data / searched for occurrences).

2,248 incidents were recorded (1,480 in 2024 and 768 in 2025). More than half (1240) are located in the parish of Buarcos and São Julião. Tavarede is the second parish with the most incidents (402), followed by Ferreira-a-Nova and Lavos, with 143 and 108, respectively. The parish with the fewest recorded incidents is Moinhos da Gândara, with just 1, followed by Alqueidão (9), Marinha das Ondas (13), Paião (14) and Bom Sucesso (15). In the remaining parishes, the number of incidents ranged from 52 (Maiorca) to 68 (São Pedro).

The typification of occurrences has made it easier to streamline internal procedures, which is essential for an effective response. Of the 7 typologies available in the application, there were 607 reports relating to public space, 570 to public hygiene and health; 560 to roads and signs; 236 to green spaces; 111 to town planning; 90 to public lighting; 74 to Civil Protection.

The months in which the most reports were made were June 2024 (256), followed, also in 2024, by July (256), August (252) and October (215). In 2025, May was the month with the most reports (174), followed by March (148). Reports in the remaining months of 2025 were always above 100/month.

Of the total number of incidents reported, 1,306 have been completed and 942 are in the process of being resolved. Of the total reported in 2024, around two thirds have been resolved.

The municipality explains that "many of the incidents in the resolution phase are subject to compliance with legal obligations, administrative procedures, licenses, technical opinions or impact assessments.

In some interventions, especially those involving public works or external services, public procurement processes require tenders/contractual procedures and specific deadlines, as stipulated by legislation, which can naturally extend the time needed to resolve them. This rigor not only ensures the legality and sustainability of the solutions, but at the same time guarantees transparency and efficiency in the decisions made, leading to all actions being planned in an integrated manner, avoiding provisional solutions and promoting long-term interventions that benefit the entire community."

Even so, “all occurrences are quickly and proactively analyzed by the municipality”. In order to speed up this response, the City Council has equipped two vehicles specially prepared to carry out an immediate analysis of each occurrence reported, facilitating the initial triage and allowing for faster and more efficient management of the resolution processes.

“Despite the challenges inherent in these processes, the Municipality of Figueira maintains a proactive and dedicated stance in the search for structured solutions, ensuring that all occurrences receive the attention and treatment they deserve, in accordance with the legislation and for the well-being of all residents.”
