From June 20 to 30, Praça do Forte will host the Parish Fair, with the participation of all the parishes in the municipality in a space that is already emblematic for the City Festivals, Praça do Forte, where the typical cuisine of the region is celebrated, local products, and where nationally and internationally renowned artists such as Blaya, Miguel Gameiro, and Rouxinol Faduncho take to the stage. Folklore is also present through our communities, with the António Maia Cardoso Iberian Folklore Festival being a highlight. This year's edition promises to reduce its ecological footprint and “hunt down” disposable plastics. The Parish Fair has been selected as Figueira da Foz's event for the European Region of Gastronomy celebrations in 2021; this will be a great challenge for our city and for the Coimbra Region.
Still in the field of gastronomy, but in participating restaurants, we highlight the Caldeiradas Festival, organized by the Figueira com Sabor a Mar Gastronomic Association, taking place between June 21 and 30.
The longest night of the year, June 23, St. John's Night, kicks off at 9:30 p.m. with the first parade of the Marchas Populares, between Johnny Ringo and Praça do Forte, with four marches in competition and three guest marches, joined by Imperial Neptuna Académica, which, as tradition dictates, opens this first parade. Later, at Molhe Interior Sul, the eagerly awaited pyromusical show with multimedia will take place, followed by a performance by the artist Rouxinol Faduncho and the traditional popular festivities, the Banho Santo festival, and the Bonfires of São João at Praia do Forte.
On the 24th, the city's day, the celebrations begin in the morning with the award ceremony at the CAE, and in the afternoon there are religious celebrations: mass, procession, and blessing of the sea. In the early evening, at the Coliseu Figueirense, the 2nd Marchas Populares parade takes place, which also welcomes two guest marches and the Tuna Bruna – Tuna Académica da Figueira da Foz.
