The now traditional solemn session of the Municipal Assembly, which marks April 25, 1974, will once again be held outside the county seat this year. The parish of Lavos will host the session, which will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the Casa do Povo de Lavos.
At 10:00 a.m., the National Flag will be raised, with an honor guard by the Figueira da Foz Firefighters and Volunteers and the National Anthem performed by the Carvalhense Artistic Musical Society Philharmonic.
At 10:30 a.m., the speeches will begin, with the president of the Lavos Parish Council, guest speaker António Fernando do Nascimento Teixeira, representatives of the 25 de Abril Association, the Municipal Youth Council, the Left Bloc, Unitary Democratic Coalition; Social Democratic Party; Figueira A Primeira; Socialist Party; Mayor; and, closing the ceremony, the President of the Municipal Assembly.
This will be followed by a performance by the David de Sousa Choir and the Carvalhense Artistic Musical Society Philharmonic and, weather permitting, at 3:00 p.m., the “As Salineiras de Lavos” Folk Dance Group.
