ARU TAVAREDE

The urban rehabilitation area (ARU) of Tavarede, covering approximately 9.37 hectares and comprising a total of 168 properties, is characterized by its rural nature, which represents a potential asset. The distinguishing feature of this ARU is the inclusion of green spaces that extend beyond the built-up area and maintain their vocation for agriculture, which we can now refer to as urban gardens.

In general, the aim is for the Tavarede ARU to include, in addition to buildings and notable heritage, infrastructure, collective facilities, and surrounding green spaces.

Within the defined limits of the ARU is the oldest built-up area with the greatest heritage and cultural value, and part of the green area surrounding this center, which has made it possible to outline the strategy and some solutions to gently revitalize alternative routes, overcome the problems encountered in the use of public space, and improve its integration into the city and the natural environment that surrounds it—the Boa Viagem mountain range.
