The Alberto Gaspar wood factory in Figueira da Foz went bankrupt 15 years ago. Now, it is known that 220 apartments will be built on the site of this former industrial unit by Foz Gala Investments. The value of the investment has not been disclosed.
According to Diário as Beiras, 220 apartments will be built on the site of the former Alberto Gaspar factory, spread over 12 residential buildings, in a development that will include green areas.
The subdivision process is currently in the preliminary study phase. It is known that this residential development will not be subject to an environmental impact assessment, although it will have to comply with all environmental protection standards. According to the same newspaper, the construction company is expected to proceed with the treatment of the former industrial land and the removal of asbestos-containing fiber cement structures.
Behind the construction of these new houses on the south bank of Figueira da Foz (Coimbra district) is Foz Gala Investments, owned by an emigrant in Luxembourg, who has not disclosed the value of the investment associated with the housing development. Founded in 2021, the company owns several buildings in the same city, some of which are old and are being considered for renovation, according to the same publication.
